THE "PRESEPE VIVENTE DI BAIA E LATINA"
AS SEEN AND DESCRIBED FROM THE MEDIA

What the media "types" 'bout us...

The following it's just a little and generical list about some of the essays and reports that press and local and national media dedicated to "Presepe Vivente di Baia e Latina".

It isn't intended to be a grotesque self-celebrating try, but the correct analysis of a uncontrovertible fact: that the manifestation always reaches an undeniably success and the regular interest of the media; and this is the demonstration of its superior artistic and technical structure...

THERE'S A BETLEHEM IN THE SOUTH OF ITALY: IT'S CALLED BAIA
(...) Then one realise that the whole town, using the old stone houses sadly abandoned along the rash hill passage that climbs to the Assunta Curch has transmuted in a live and active Presepe Vivente. But absolutely different from all the other ones, because this is 'itinerant', with the collaboration of all the towns habitants that follows the donkey with San Giuseppe and Maria in their entrance to Betlehem, whose Baia looks one of the most faithful natural copy, highlighted by a wise and soft colour lightining. (...) The historic representation of Betlehem's event has been so similar to the evangelical writing that produced intense moments of pathos, a true reference point to all the visitors that used to emotionally take their own part of Biblic identity. (...)

(FRANZ MARIA D'ASARO - from "IL SECOLO XIX" of january 23, 1989)

(...) For the ones that visited at least once the representation of the Presepe Vivente, to look at Baia e Latina (...) as Betlehem of the "high casertan" area, it's absolutely not a silly thing (...)

(ANTONIO ZINGARO - from "IL CORRIERE DI CASERTA" of december 22, 1995)

Presepe Vivente di Baia e Latina it's a way to recover traditions and works that else are about goin' to disappear. (...) The true local artisans teaches to the youngs the old jobs and, even if for one night, all together goes over the reality limits to last an ancient dream.

(ANNA CAVASINNI - from the RAI2 TV show "PROSSIMO TUO" - january 1996)

(...) Baia e Latina Nativity pageant has been defined "..a Presepe like no other.." and this is because a show so original and rich of artistic-religious contents isn't like all other numerous manifestations that, in these times, one can find looking up and down Italy. (...) All this, has been possible thanks to a group of obstinate and tireless passionate of it: Enzo Cunti, Enzo Maiello, Pino Tarantino and Antonio Zingaro, assisted from numerous co-workers more (...)

(GIUDITTA ZINGARO - from "IL CORRIERE DI CASERTA" - december 27, 1998)

(...) The representation has got a nice and singular moment that join together, in some way, the sacred and the prophane: while walking, in fact, the shops distributes free of charge to the visitors everything they cooked home (roast chestnuts, bread, etc.). (...)
A true moment of meditation that all Baia e Latina's citizens feels in a very particular way.

(from "IL MATTINO" di Napoli - december, 1998)

The representation is truly appreciated from all the visitors that comes from Campania and all over the Regions around (...). The organizers and actors efforts and sacrifices are recompensed from a unique, impressive and original show. Unique, because it is "thematic". In fact it's a perfect "Neapolitan Presepe" because of the characters (...). Impressive, because all the scenes made up are placed in a tour about one chilometre long (...). Original, because the visitors becomes way by way a part of the Presepe, actor and protagonist itself. (...) It's a true wonderful show, beyond its deepest religious significance, and it reaches high, impressive theatrical moments.

(from the book "FIERE, MERCATI, MOSTRE, MANIFESTAZIONI VARIE, SAGRE E CENNI STORICI DEI COMUNI CASERTANI" edited from C.C.I.A.A. of Caserta - care of MARIO SANTORO)

(...) they've traveled for the whole night to be here with us, they are some of the characters of one of the beautiest Living Nativity of Italy (and that's why we wanted it): the Presepe Vivente of Baia e Latina, a town in the province of Caserta (...).

(anchor-woman PAOLA SALUZZI during the RAI 1 TV show "UNOMATTINA" on december 24, 2001)
